Choosing the right barber scissors comes down to three things: blade length, steel, and what you’re cutting. Our range covers 5″ to 8″ blades in Japanese 440C, ATS-314, VG10 and hand-forged Damascus steel, built for scissor-over-comb, point cutting, slicing and fade work.
Blade length — match the shear to the technique
- 5″–6″: detail work, fades, and tight scissor-over-comb (Scorpion, a Tsunami, Samurai 5.5″/6″, Arrow, K5)
- 6.5″–7″: all-round barbering and longer-hair cutting (ZK 18 Storm, Galaxy 7″, TS 7″ Barber, Scorpion, Arrow, K5)
- 7″–8″: extended reach for high-volume and longer-hair work (Master Barber, K5)
Steel and build
Japanese 440C (Galaxy 7″) and ATS-314 (ZK 18 Storm) hold an edge through a full day of cutting. VG10 with titanium and vanadium (Master Barber, K6) adds extra edge retention for barbers who dry-cut daily. VG10 blended with high cobalt and molybdenum (K5) pushes edge retention further for barbers who want a premium daily driver. Cobalt steel (a Tsunami, TS 7″ Barber) trades some edge longevity for a lower price point without sacrificing cutting power. Damascus Sword and Damascus Emperor Texturizer are hand-forged in Japan for barbers who want a premium finishing shear.
Texturizing and thinning shears
Pair a cutting shear with a texturizer for blending and weight removal. The Ts46t is a 6.5″, 46-tooth blender designed to match the TS 7″ Barber. The Samurai 6″ Texturizer/Thinner is a 30-tooth blender suited to the same role at a shorter length. The Damascus Emperor Texturizer (6″) is also a 30-tooth blender, bringing the same hand-forged Damascus steel to a texturizing shear for barbers who want that finish across their full kit.

What size barber scissors should I buy?

What's the difference between offset and straight-handle scissors?
An offset or “crane” handle angles the thumb ring forward, keeping your wrist in a more natural position during scissor-over-comb and point cutting. A straight handle keeps both finger rings level, which some barbers prefer for solid-form cutting. Our ZK 18 Storm and K5 both use offset handle designs built for point cutting and scissor-over-comb comfort.
How many teeth should a texturizing shear have?
Fewer teeth remove more hair per pass for heavier thinning; more teeth give a subtler blend. Our Ts46t is a 46-tooth texturizer built to pair with the TS 7″ Barber, while the Samurai 6″ Texturizer/Thinner runs 30 teeth for finer blending work.
Do you sell left-handed barber scissors?
Yes. The Scorpion (6″, 6.5″, 7″) is available in both right- and left-handed builds. Our a Tsunami range is currently right-hand only, with the 5.5″ and 6″ sizes temporarily out of stock.
